Te Ara o Whangamaire Walkway, Patumahoe

Updated: Oct 23, 2020

Another beautiful day here in Franklin and the perfect morning for a walk with friends. Today we went on a Guided Walk with a Council Ranger who was lovely, very informative and obviously had a love of the countryside and a great knowledge, what a great job she has!It was a short walk from Patumahoe school to the waterfall but a great place to explore. We learnt about pest control, native plants and met some of the local wildlife!! The waterfall is beautiful and we will be back to explore and spend more time there. The great thing about these guided walks is that it gives you a taste of places you might not know about and then you can go back and explore some more. Keep an eye out on the Our Auckland website for more walks.

We opted to walk back to Patumahoe via the road rather than back through the bush, one because Heidi was scared of the cows, two because we wanted to walk a loop and three this was the fastest way to the bakery for lunch!

We had a yummy lunch at Patty Kiwi Bakery, highly recommend the pies and custard chelsea bun!
